Investigate - Create - Express ( I.C.E.)

This exciting program is in its sixth year of operation and offers students from Years 1 to 6 a range of activities that extends the students’ learning and furthers their knowledge and skills in new or existing areas of interest and passion. All students have had the opportunity to contribute ideas for activities through their Student Representative Council and we aim to cater for many of the most popular suggestions.

Thanks to our talented staff, willing family members and community volunteers some of the wide range of activities that have been offered have been woodwork, cooking, crafts such as quilting, applique, hama beads, friendship bands, knitting, photography, gardening, book club, flight, comic drawing, painting, song and Auslan, drama and writing, yoga, pottery, recycled art, henna designs, chess, rock band, egyptology, pinata, pattern making and soft toys.

The I.C.E. program is a way of delivering extra-curricular activities that provide enrichment opportunities to all students in these levels. The activities are offered for one hour a week for ten weeks of each semester and culminates in an open afternoon showcase so students can demonstrate to the school community their achievements.

The program engages all students in Years 1 – 6 and extends students’ knowledge, skills and abilities by providing a range of stimulating and challenging opportunities. The activities cater for the different learning styles and talents of our students and assists them to value and utilise the contributions of others as they work together with different activity supervisors, and students from different year levels, who have similar interests.

Some activities have a fee associated with them but there are many activities that have no costs involved. Students indicate their preferences on a selection form and we monitor all the choices and keep records to give all children a chance to get their first preference at some point.

As the activities work best with small groups of students we are always looking for volunteers who are willing to give some time and share their enthusiasm. The sessions run from 2:30 to 3:30 on Friday afternoons. If you have a talent or passion you would like to share we would love to hear from you for our Semester One 2017 program.
